Hi Everyone,
Today I will make a review on Dying Light, the video game. It is for the Xbox One, PS4, and PC. The game is also developed by Techland. This will NOT cover Dying Light 2, and Dying Light: Bad Blood. Dying Light 2 is still in development, and I do not have Dying Light: Bad Blood.
As usual I will base my review off of the story, and the gameplay. Hopefully I don't die trying (pun intended)!

The story takes place in the wonderful (er not really) place of Harran. Harran is overrun by zombies. The city luckily got quarantined, but the people who are inside have to survive.
In comes you, who plays as a character called Kyle Crane (who is referred to as Crane). He is a spy (of sorts) sent in to find a cure and investigate this whole Harran situation. Over the course of the story he gets bitten by a zombie, and has to figure out a way to solve the zombie crisis while not turning into one himself.
The story in my opinion is pretty good. Normally I don't get engrossed in a character, but Crane made me care about what was happening to him in the story. I liked how his character arc progressed, and the way that he interacted with things, especially as the story gets crazier.
I wish that there was a story after the game is beaten though. Even if it was a small story, I would be willing to play it even more than I already do.
Now onto the gameplay.
I like the gameplay, especially because it focuses on the Parkour mechanic. Crane has to jump onto the tops of buildings and run on them in order to survive. It is an interesting way to traverse compared to most different games.
The game also uses a weapon system to eliminate the zombies. Mostly physical weapons like a machete (the game is in a zombie apocalypse type setting so that is a big chunk of the weapons), but a gun is also used in the game too to eliminate zombies.
The weapons can make noise though, so sometimes people need to be alert, and aware of their surroundings.
There are different types of zombies in the game, depending on if the game takes place in the night time, or the day time. Day time zombies are easier to eliminate, but the night time ones are a lot harder. I wish that they were some what easier to manage, but they still can be eliminated if you have the skill.
I like the Co-Op because I can play with my friends. We can go and defeat zombies, and play the campaign together. It makes it more enjoyable.
I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

Is this game better than most Zombie games, I feel like a lot of the time Zombie games tend to repeat themselves.
ReplyDeleteDying Light always was interesting to me because it looked like a cross between Mirror's Edge, Left 4 Dead, and Dead Island. I never played the original you are reviewing, but I think I'll have to check out Dying Light 2 whenever that comes out.
