It's a Galaxy of a Time! A TeamFight Tactics Season 3 Review

Hi Everyone,

Today I am writing about TeamFight Tactics, specifically season 3, called Galaxies. It is really cool, and features a huge Sci-Fi theme. It is made by Riot Games, and is actually a game mode in League of Legends.

It is for the PC, and Mobile Devices, at least on the iPhone. I don't know about Android phones.

Time to explore the review!

Story:

There is none, from what I understand. Correct me if I am wrong. It uses characters from the same universe as League of Legends, but that's about it.

Gameplay:

The game is an Auto-Chess game. This is part of the Strategy genre, but instead of doing all of the crazy set piece action, the game does it for you.

It's simple, really. You get to pick from several champions (characters in the League of Legends Universe), and you set them on a ring of tiles in an effort to strategically place them and destroy the enemy champions.

Your goal is to not lose your champions in battle. When you lose a round, you take damage. Take enough damage to hit zero, and you lose the game. Last person standing wins the game.

There's more to that. On the top of the screen, there are different waves, or "turns" if you are strategically familiar with traditional Turn-Based Strategy games.

In these turns, there are some basic enemies that spawn loot for you. These enemies either give you gold, new champions, or items (called equipment). You can drag your mouse after clicking the equipment, and put it on a champion that you own.

Items you get can also merge with other equipped items on said champion. This increases the power of your champion and lets them go all out for a massive boost!

I haven't even gotten to the best part. If you get multiples of the same champion, they MERGE TOGETHER (think cool sci-fi baddies merging to become a super baddie) and the champion goes up 1 tier.

The tiers are Bronze, Silver, and Gold. Gold is the strongest, and the champions turn Gold when they hit that level. Pretty sweet if I have to say anything about it.

To get champions, you have to upgrade your level, which lets you use more champions. You must also "refresh" from the store, and you must be able to have enough gold in order to obtain the champion. If you can't, then you are out of luck.

This is a small problem. The game uses RNG, which is Random Number Generating. Most strategy games use this, as it creates a wonderful variety. That being said, the variety is also frustrating as well. I have had times where I only need one more champion to merge, and the game simply will not let me merge my champions. It won't be in the store, and I need it to win (looking at you Twisted Fate).

Overall:

This game is a lot of fun. I have spent countless hours in this game, and I love it. I hope you all do too.

I give it a 4 out of 5 stars.
