The Intercollegiate Gaming Night! Great Day

Hi Everyone,

Today I am going to be writing about the Intercollegiate Game Night that happened on March 28, 2020. It happened because of all of the universities shut down by the Coronavirus.

As a note, please stay safe and healthy.

This will be a little different, as its just me talking about my time at the event itself.

For Starters:

I absolutely loved the event. There were a lot of professionals from the gaming industry and esports industry, and they were all EXTREMELY FRIENDLY. I am talking like these professionals were your best friends playing a video game with you. That's how friendly.

I also got to connect with a lot of them on LinkedIn. There was a lot of connecting and networking during this event, and I witnessed that myself.

I also saw a lot of people from my school as well (Bradley University). In fact, one of the kids there was the head of the Esports club (I am the Social Media Manager). So we got everyone from all backgrounds of esports there as well.

I got into a discussion about Greek food from two people, one student like me, and an employee of 343 Industries. That was probably one of the best parts of the night for me. Everyone there was talking about games, networking, and just having a great time.

THE RAFFLES:

There were RAFFLES! I loved the idea, and a kid from Bradley University even won one of them. I sadly didn't win any of the raffles, but I loved trying to win nonetheless. I wish that I could have won one, but that didn't take away from my experience. In fact it enhanced it.

GUEST SPEAKERS:

I mentioned earlier that there were plenty of guest speakers. They ranged from companies such as HyperX to BANDAI NAMCO ENTERTAINMENT AMERICA. They all held relevant positions (for me at least), so I could network with them and gain relevant experience from them. This was probably the highlight of the whole night for me. I got to experience the professionalism of the gaming industry, while talking to people about my career.

Moral of the story: CONNECT, CONNECT, and continue to do that.

I got plenty of advice from the people here, and I will continue to go back in the future to the Intercollegiate Game Night.
